Basic Characteristics Of Jacquard Fabrics

May 20, 2026 Leave a message

Jacquard weaving is mainly divided into two types: large jacquard and small jacquard. Large jacquard is a pattern formed by hundreds or thousands of warp and weft yarns, which can be plain weave or satin weave. Small jacquard uses two or more weave variations to create patterns, generally appearing as geometric plain or twill weaves. Simply put, large jacquard often features floral patterns, while small jacquard often features simple geometric patterns such as stripes or checks.

For example, in satin jacquard fabric, the warp and weft yarns interweave at least every three yarns, resulting in a higher fabric density, thicker fabric, softer texture, smooth and delicate surface, and a lustrous sheen. Jacquard fabrics generally have a unique soft, delicate, and smooth texture, good luster, good drape and breathability, and high colorfastness.

Based on the pattern, its weaving and dyeing process can be divided into single-color jacquard and multi-color jacquard. Solid-color jacquard is a jacquard-dyed fabric, woven first and then dyed, resulting in a solid color finished product; multi-color jacquard is a yarn-dyed jacquard fabric, dyed first and then woven, resulting in rich colors and a strong three-dimensional effect in the pattern.
