Research and Development of Flocked Fabrics

As an emerging industry, electrostatic flocking has experienced rapid expansion in recent years due to its low investment barriers, abundant product variety, wide application range, and high returns. Flocked products are characterized by unique appearance, diverse styles, wide application areas, rapid color and pattern changes, high production efficiency, and low production costs. New product development is currently one of the main problems facing my country's flocking industry, and the variety and technological content of Chinese flocked products still lag behind those of foreign countries.

 

In the next few years, flocked products for apparel and home textiles will be two important development directions for domestic flocked products. Flocked fabrics for apparel are superior to conventional cotton flocked fabrics in terms of appearance and washability, offering better comfort and processing performance. Flocked fabrics for decoration exhibit good abrasion resistance and strength, meeting usage requirements. For decorative cotton mesh base nylon flocked fabrics, the primary influencing factor on strength performance is the warp and weft density of the base fabric and the amount of adhesive used; the secondary influencing factor is the elongation at break and thickness.

 

Expanding application areas and developing functional and high-tech products are the main ways to improve the industry's level. Current functional development includes products with water and oil repellency, antibacterial properties, UV protection, and temperature-sensitive color change. These products meet the market's demand for personalized and high-quality textiles in the context of consumption upgrading.

 

Industry technological innovation focuses on green manufacturing and intelligent manufacturing. In green manufacturing, this includes promoting water-based adhesives to replace solvent-based adhesives to reduce VOC emissions and developing flocking recycling technology. The application of environmentally friendly materials is also progressing, such as the use of bio-based fiber materials. In intelligent manufacturing, production efficiency and product yield are improved by introducing automated production lines and machine vision inspection systems .

 

The flocked textile market continues to grow, and application scenarios are constantly expanding . Besides the traditional clothing and home textile sectors, new energy vehicle interiors have become a new blue ocean for high-end flocked fabrics, as they enhance the sense of luxury and have sound absorption, noise reduction, anti-slip, and wear-resistant properties. In addition, there are innovative applications in creative design, high-end gift packaging, and smart home applications.
