Daily Care of Clothing Fabrics

Cotton and Linen Fabric Care: Before storing, ensure cotton and linen garments have been thoroughly washed, dried, and folded flat. Wardrobes, chests, or polyethylene bags must be kept clean and dry to prevent mildew. Additionally, to avoid color bleeding or yellowing between white and dark-colored garments, it is recommended to store them separately.

Silk Fabric Care: To prevent silk garments from getting damp or dusty, it is recommended to cover them with a layer of cotton cloth or wrap them properly. Also, please note that white silk garments should not be stored in camphor wood chests, and mothballs should not be used, as they can cause yellowing. When storing, silk should be dry, protected from light, and wrapped in soft materials.

Synthetic Fiber Fabric Care: Synthetic fiber garments do not require mothballs, as the naphthol in them can damage the fabric. Viscose fiber garments have poor abrasion resistance and are prone to pilling and deformation; therefore, excessive rubbing and wringing should be avoided during wearing and washing. For synthetic fiber garments, keep them clean and dry to prevent mildew on the viscose fibers.

Down Jackets and Linen Care

For lightly soiled down jackets, dry cleaning is possible. Use a soft brush dipped in gasoline to gently wipe specific areas, then wipe away the gasoline with a dry towel. If the down jacket is heavily soiled, it needs to be washed entirely. Soak in cold water, then soak in warm water with laundry detergent, followed by brushing and rinsing. After rinsing thoroughly, roll the garment in a clean cloth to gently squeeze out excess water, then air dry and pat the surface to restore its fluffiness.

For silk and linen, it is recommended to wash in cold water with a neutral detergent. Adding white vinegar during rinsing can effectively fix the color. Ironing temperature should be moderate to ensure the garment remains in optimal condition. Silk garments are favored in summer for their softness, smoothness, and moisture-wicking properties, but proper care is necessary. After washing, silk garments should be dried in a cool, well-ventilated place, avoiding direct sunlight to prevent ultraviolet radiation from causing fiber brittleness and fading.
